Section Ranunculoides
Type specimen: S. R. Yi YSR0960 resides at HITBC (0140716 - holotype), isotypes at CGMC, KUN.

Epithet: Named for Chongqing Municipality, China, where the species was discovered.
Distribution: Qianjiang, Chongqing, China.

A delicate dwarf biennial, efarinose and with divided pinnatisect leaves. Compared to other species in this section, the leaves are smaller and have only 1 or two pairs of lateral segments when pinnatisect. Compared with closely related P. ranunculoides, it differs by long-homostylous flowers, pedicels and calyces densely covered in short glandular hairs, a relatively short calyx (ca. 1/3 of tube) with slightly spreading lobes (not reflexed) and only occasional apical bulblets. Only known from a single population at Tanjia Yuanzi, Shihui, Qianjiang District, Chongqing.
