Type specimen: Jian-Wen Shao and Wei Zhang 160402-2 resides at ANUB (specimen ANUB002368).

Epithet: Named for Wan (anhui) Nan (south) for the south of Anhui where this species grows.
Distribution: Anhui, China.

Grows along watersides or roadsides under forest or shady slopes. Part of the P. merrilliana complex, but determined by molecular phylogenetic analysis, reproductive isolation and geographic data to be distinct. Morphologically close to P. merilliana and genetically close to P. zhexiensis This species is biennial, glabrous, with 3-9 scapes per plant of 2-3 superimposed umbels of usually 3 flowers. Corolla pink, distylous, long homostylous or short homostylous, lobes obovate to obovate-elliptic, apex rounded.
