P. hubeiensis Xin W.Li

Section Ranunculoides
Type specimen: D.C.Bao & H.D.Huang 1368-1 resides at HIB.

Epithet: Named for the province of Hubei where the type specimen was found.
Distribution: Hubei, China.

Similar to P. filchnerae but differs in having 6-9 pinnae in the leaves (vs 3-4), calyx parted to 3/4 (vs 2/5), corolla tube 2x the calyx (vs slightly longer than calyx) and smaller capsules (3-4mm vs 10-16mm). P. ranunculoides is found in the same area but differs in several morphological characters including the ability to reproduce asexually via bulblets. P. jiugongshanensis is also found in the area but differs in being glabrous (P. hubeiensis is hairy). P. hubeiensis grows in shady, damp rock crevices and has distylous flowers of purple or pale purple with a yellow eye surrounded by a thin band of white.
