Type specimen: Zhikun Wu, ZKWU2025210 resides at KUN.
Epithet: Named from the Chinese Pinyin 'Xingyi', the name of the county in southwestern Guizhou, China, where the type specimen was collected.
Distribution: Guizhou, China.
Compared with P. intanoensis and P. calyptrata, two other homostylous species in section Carolinella and which share common characters of cordate leaves with long petioles and pubescent indumentum, as well as a campanulate or narrowly campanulate calyx. P. xingyiensis differs from those species by its dwarf gracile habit, small leaves, shortened scape, shorter calyx and long corolla tube. An efarinose, pubescent species, with suborbicular leaves 1.1-1.7 cm, base cordate, margin entire, both sides densely villous, abaxially purplish-red. Scape 1-2 cm, with an umbel of 2-6, long homostylous, exannulate, pink flowers, deeply emarginate, with a white tube that is 7-8 X the calyx. Calyx narrowly campanulate, 2-3 mm, divided to 1/3-1/2 into narrowly triangular lobes with acute apex. Only known from two populations near Xingyi, Guizhou, China.
