Compared to P. obconica subsp obconica the corolla tube of P. weimingii is slightly longer than the calyx (1.5-2 x the calyx), calyx narrowly campanulate (cup-shaped to broadly campanulate) and the calyx lobes triangular with acute apex (broadly triangular with hydathode-apiculate apex). Grows in very damp soil covered in moss in the understory of humid forests and so far only known from Yuanyang Guanyinshan Provincial Nature Reserve, Yunnan.
