Type specimen: Z.R. Xu et al. L1618 resides at IBSC.

Epithet: Named for the glabrous (smooth) calyx.
Distribution: S Guizhou, China.

P. levicalyx was originally collected at Lipo, S Guizhou. It is compared with P. kweichouensis but differing in the glabrous calyx and pedicels and by being pubescent on both surfaces of the leaves. An efarinose species, shallow rooted, leaves oblong to broadly ovate, 1.5-3.5cm long, pilose above and below, apex rounded, base cordate (rarely subrounded) and with a densely pilose petiole 2-5cm (longer than blade). Scapes 2.5-5.5cm sparsely pilose with 2-6 pink flowers. Calyx campanulate, glabrous, parted to middle, lobes narrow-triangular, margin hydathode-apiculate. Capsule operculate.
