Found at Mt Fansipan, Vietnam and also at Maguan Shan, Yunnan, less than 100kms to the NE. This species is efarinous, with a rhizome showing the scars of previous leaves and scapes. Leaves are few (1-2 per plant), ovate to elliptic-ovate, base cordate, apex short acuminate, margin regularly denticulate, glabrous or somewhat scurfy underneath. Scapes and pedicels are covered in rust-colored articulate hairs, more dense at the apex and base, with 8-28 pale violet or rose flowers in an abbreviated raceme. Calyx 10-12 mm long, glandular pubescent outside. Compare with related species P. cardioeides and P. partschiana.
