Type specimen: Ludlow and Sherriff 6061 resides at Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh (specimen E00024585, E00024586, E00024587, E00024588)

Primula youngeriana has only been found on the Mira La (Mainling Xian), Tibet growing under huge boulders in dry moss. It is distinguished by 1-4cm long, linear bracts and in a large calyx with patent lobes. The flowers are blue-violet with a white eye.
