Type specimens: Sharma E391 resides at Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh herbarium (specimens E00024759 and E00024758) also at Kew (specimen K000750409)
This species is endemic to Nepal and grows at the high elevation of 5700m. It is similar to P. reidii, but is distinguished from it by the larger exannulate corolla and toothed lobes.
