Type specimen: Y. Xu Xu140036 resides at South China Botanical Garden, Guangdong, Guangzhou, China.

Epithet: Named for Wawushan mountain in Sichuan.
Distribution: Sichuan, China.

This species resembles P. fagosa and P. epilosa but is distinguished by sessile leaves, smaller flowers, shorter scape at flowering and a calyx split to 1/3. Seems also to be closely related to P. tridentifera? Efarinose, basal scales present, leaves obovate to narrowly obovate, rounded at apex, tapered to base, petiole nearly obsolete, strongly bullate.
