Type specimen: E. Wilson 4026 resides at Paris (specimens P04907165, P04907164 ) and Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh (specimen E00024309) and US National Herbarium (specimen US00116523) and KEW (specimen K000750132) and Herbarium Hamburgense (specimen HBG510913).

P. pirolaefolia (syn): Léveillé, Monde Pl. II 17: 2. 1915. Type specimen: Maire s.n. April and May 1912 (Ou-Kia, Yunnan) resides at Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh (specimens E00024310, E00284628) and US National Herbarium (specimen US00116500).

Epithet: Named for Harry Veitch who hired Wilson to collect seeds in Western China.
Distribution: W Sichuan, E Yunnan, China

The collector Wilson did not specify a distinct location for this collection though it was made in Western China. Efarinose with a long thin rhizome, leaves orbicular, rounded at the apex and rounded or cordate at the base. Leaves vary in size and in having cordate-dentate margins at one extreme and completely entire margins at the other extreme. Flowers rose-purple, annulate, with fringed lobes. Distinguished from P. lacerata by the absence of petiolate leaves forming in the umbel and by geography. Distinguished from P. hydrocotylifolia by having an umbel of flowers rather than single.
