Link to Flora of China description
Type specimen: Przewalski s.n. 1880 Regio Tangut resides at LE and Institute of Botany, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing (specimen 00027748).

Epithet: Named for the "nettle" like pinnate lobes of the leaves.
Distribution: Gansu, Qinghai.

Przewalski found this in the Tetung mountains of Gansu. It was also collected there by Farrer & Purdom and plants were raised from their collection, but did not survive long. There is disagreement on which Section this species belongs to as the leaves resemble P. blinii (Section Yunnanensis) but without farina though the scapes, bracts, calyx and corolla resemble P. fasciculata (Section Armerina). A small species of 3-8cm, leaves glabrous, efarinose (but minutely glandular), suborbicular, cuneate at the base into a long petiole (2-5X as long as the blade), margin cut pinnately into 5-11 lobes. Scape holds 1-3 rose-pink flowers, tube 2x the calyx, bracts subulate, calyx cut to middle into acute lobes.
