Type specimen: Tsiang 5071 resides at Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh (specimen E00024280) and US National Herbarium (specimen US00116520) and KEW (specimen K000750107) and NY Botanic Garden (specimen 00329559) and University of Zurich Herbaria (specimen Z-000019533) and Swedish Museum of Natural History (specimen S-G-5051) and Chinese Virtual Herbarium (specimen 00027751, 00027753).
Epithet: Named for the botanist Ying Tsiang.
Distribution: Lou-shan,Tung-tze, Guizhou, China.
An unusual species distinguished by the heavy coating of tomentum on all parts of the plants except the bluish purple flower. Leaves suborbicular, base cordate, margin entire of somewhat sinuate, covered on both sides with hairs, very thickly underneath. Scapes to 17cm, 1-2 umbels of bluish purple flowers, calyx campanulate and parted about to the middle. Capsule globose. Grows in dense shade on moist cliffs. See related P. persimilis.
