An unusual species distinguished by the heavy coating of tomentum on all parts of the plants except the bluish purple flower. Leaves suborbicular, base cordate, margin entire of somewhat sinuate, covered on both sides with hairs, very thickly underneath. Scapes to 17cm, 1-2 umbels of bluish purple flowers, calyx campanulate and parted about to the middle. Capsule globose. Grows in dense shade on moist cliffs. See related P. persimilis.
