Type specimen: X. Li 78179 resides at Institute of Botany, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing (holotype) and NAS (specimens NAS00072127, NAS00072128) and Northwestern Institute of Botany, Yangling, Shaanxi (specimen 0251032).

Epithet: Named for the slender petioles?
Distribution: Sichuan, China.

Compared to Primula qinghaiensis in the original description, but distinguished by the rose colored flowers and the slender petioles. Leaves ovate to suborbicular, glandular on both sides though sparcely farinose underneath, shallowly cordate base, margin dentate, rounded apex. Rose colored flowers with a yellow eye, lobes emarginate in umbels of 2-8 flowers on glabrous scapes. Bracts lanceolate, calyx campanulate, glandular, cut to the middle or below and farinous inside.
