Epithet: Named for the Chinese province of Sichuan.
Distribution: W Sichuan, Yunnan, China.

P. szechuanica is an efarinose species with reflexed (bent backwards) petals and leaves with an attenuate base. It grows in meadows and forest margins. See also other yellow flowered species: advena (Tibet), aemula (patent corolla lobes), handeliana (patent corolla lobes, Shaanxi), tzetsouensis (distinct, long petiole), soongii (patent corolla lobes) and orbicularis (farinose).
