P. nemoralis (syn): Balf., Notes Roy. Bot. Gard. Edinburgh. 9:31 1915. Type specimen: Maire s.n. April [1911-1913] Ou-kia, Yunnan resides at Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh (specimen E00024299, E00024300) and Paris (specimen P04567963).
P. plebeia (syn): Balf., Notes Roy. Bot. Gard. Edinburgh. 9:190 1916. Type specimen: Maire s.n., May [1911-1913] Tse-tschou-pa, Yunnan resides at Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh (specimen E00024298) and KEW (specimen K000750140). A depauperate form.
P. candidissima (syn): W.W. Smith & Forrest, Notes Roy. Bot. Gard. Edinburgh. 15:250. 1927. Type specimen: Forrest 25466 resides at Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh (specimen E00024296,E00024297) and KEW (specimen K000750156) and Paris (specimen P04571521) and British Museum (specimen BM000996795). A vigorous form.
P. ragotiana (syn): A. Leveille, Monde Pl. II, 17:2. 1915. Type specimen: Maire s.n. April 1912 Ou-Kia, Yunnan resides at Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh (specimen E00024300, E00024299).
Distribution: SW Sichuan, NE to CW Yunnan
Long, thin rhizome, glabrous, efarinose. Elongate lamina, sinuate-dentate leaf-margin with blunt teeth and less incised calyx (cut to 1/3). More information on variation is needed for this species. The last 6 images represent the species from near Daguan, NE Yunnan. Authorities have differed on which Section this species belongs to, and the last images seem to indicate an affinity with P. petelotii and suggest it should be a member of Section Chartacea. See other members of Section Chartacea: P. lacerata, P. veitchiana, P. chartacea, P. petelotii and P. wenshanensis. It is unclear what this means for the synonyms usually associiated with P. sinuata.
