Type specimen: Ludlow & Sherriff 2359 resides at British Museum (specimen BM000996908) and Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh (specimen E00024517).

Epithet: Named for the pinkish red flowers.
Distribution: Tibet, China.

Originally collected on the Nambu La, Tibet at 4400m. It is compared with P. annulata and P. stirtoniana but is distinguished from the former by a well-developed scape and from the later by much larger flowers. All three species have similar foliage. This species is efarinose, leaves obovate to spathulate, dentate at the margin, covered with potentially farinose glands on both sides. Scape is 1-2 cm. covered with potentially farinose glands, two small linear bracts and with a solitary pinkish red, annulate, heteromorphic flower, 1.5cm in diameter and with obovate, bilobulate lobes.
