Type specimen: Rock 16451, 17401, 17402, 17885 resides at Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh (specimens E00024059, E00265021, E00265022, E00265023), US National Herbarium (specimen US00116510) and Naturhistoriska Riksmuseet, Sweden (specimens S09-47222, S09-47223) and Harvard University Herbarium (specimen 00073556) and KEW (specimen K000732883) and NY (specimen 00546778) and Philadelphia Herbarium (specimen 22107).

Epithet: Named for J. F. Rock.
Distribution: SW Sichuan (Muli).

P. rockii is a mat-forming species found on limestone rock near old Kulu Gompa in Muli. It can be distinguished from other members of the section by being efarinose, having yellow flowers and leaves which are broadly ovate with a truncate base, incised-lobulate margin and a distinct petiole.
