P. compsantha (syn): Balf.f. & Forrest, Notes Roy. Bot. Gard. Edinburgh. 9: 13. 1915. Type specimen: Forrest 10567 resides at Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh (specimens E00024147, E00024145, E00024146) and KEW (specimen K000750191) and Smithsonian (specimen 00116462) and Paris (specimen P00649648).
P. pulchelloides (syn): Kingdon-Ward, Notes Roy. Bot. Gard. Edinburgh. 9: 38. 1915. Type specimen: Kingdon-Ward s.n. A-tun-tsu, Yunnan July 1911 resides at Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh (specimen E00024148).
P. sulphurea Pax & K.Hoffm. var. rosea (syn): Pax & K.Hoffm., Repert. Spec. Nov. Regni Veg. 17: 97. 1921. Type specimen: Limpricht 2275 resides at Universität Wien?
P. stuartii non Wall. (syn): Franch., Bull. Soc. Bot. France 32: 270. 1885. Type specimen: Delavay s.n. 10 June 1880, sur le mont Che-tcho-tze, Yunnan = Delavay1016 resides as above.

Epithet: Named for "beautiful".
Distribution: SW Sichuan, NW Yunnan, E Tibet, China.

A farinose species, leaves lanceolate to oblanceolate, to 20cm long, dense yellow or cream farina underneath, base attenuate, margin denticulate to sometimes enture, apex obtuse, sometimes acute. Scapes to 30cm, farinose toward apex with umbels of 3-30 violet to deep violet-purple flowers on yellow farinose pedicels. P. pulchelloides was found near A-tun-tsu (Deqen) in NW Yunnan and is a dwarf variant. P. sulphurea var. rosea was found between Batang and Litang.
