Type specimen: Wallich 609 resides at Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh (specimens E00024538, E00024539) and KEW (specimens K001111404, K001111405) and the British Museum (specimen BM000997026 and München (specimen M0173514).

Distribution: Nepal, Sikkim, Bhutan, Arunachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Tibet
Distinguished by the purple-blue (rarely white) flowers with a pompom of hairs in the throat. Leaves oblanceolate, minutely scabrid above and pinnatifidly toothed at the margin. P. pusilla var. flabellata is a synonym for P. occlusa, not P. primulina. Compare with related P. bella. Doubtfully recorded from Pakistan (Baltoro & Mustagh glaciers, Karakorams).
