Type specimen: Polunin, Skyes & Williams 252 resides at British Museum (specimen BM000887092) and Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh (specimens E00024580, E00024581) and Harvard (specimen 00073583).

Epithet: Named for O. V. Polunin.
Distribution: Sisne Himal, Nepal.

A species very similar to P. macrophylla or P. megalocarpa but yellow flowered. Leaves are laceolate to oblanceolate, dentate at the margin and farinose below. Bracts are linear lanceolate to 3.5cm. Calyces are similar to P. megalocarpa, farinose inside, parted almost to the base into lanceolate to oblong lobes. Taller than P. megalocarpa, to 30cm. Detailed images would be useful to reveal its relationship to other species. At present only known to occur in the Sisne Himal, Mid Western Region of Nepal, an area less frequented visited than other parts of Nepal.
