Type specimen: Henry 10890 resides at KEW (specimens K000732855, K000732854) and Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh (specimens E00024087, E00024088) and Harvard (specimen 00062458) and Swedish Museum (specimen S-G-5046) and Missouri Botanical Garden (specimen MO-345780).

P. cyclaminifolia (syn): Franch. ex Petitm., Bull. Herb. Boissier Ser. II. vii. 521 (1907). Type specimen: D'Orleans s.n. 18 March 1894, Montagnes du Yunan et du Mekong resides at Paris (specimen P00649649).
Carolinella cordifolia (syn): Hemsl., Hooker's Icon. Pl. 28: t. 2775. 1905. Type specimen: Henry 10890 resides as above.

Epithet: Named for Joseph Partsch.
Distribution: Yunnan, China.

Originally part of the Genus Carolinella which was later transferred to Primula. This species is found near Jinping, SW of Honghe in SE Yunnan. A species with a robust rhizome and rusty-tomentose at the base. Leaves 2-3 per plant, 15-20cm x 10-15cm, suborbicular to rotund-ovate with a round apex and a deeply cordate base. Chartaceous texture, shallowly crenate margin with the crenations finely denticulate, initially rust-colored pubescent becoming glabrous above, pubescent along the veins underneath with petiole 15-20cm long and at first rusty-tomentose. Scapes 10-20cm rusty tomentose especially at base with 8-15 rose flowers held in a raceme on a short axis that elongates in fruit.
