Type specimen: cult. from seeds of Booth s.n. 1849-1851 (Bhutan [Arunachal Pradesh]) resides at KEW (specimen K000880464).

P. seclusa (syn): I. B. Balfour & Forrest, Notes Roy. Bot. Gard. Edinburgh. 9:44. 1915. Type specimen: Forrest 12059 resides at Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh (specimen E00024097, E00024098) and KEW (specimen K000732835).
P. mollis Nuttall ex Hooker ssp seclusa (I. B. Balfour & Forrest): W. W. Smith & Forrest, Notes Roy. Bot. Gard. Edinburgh. 16:19. 1928.

Distribution: W Yunnan, Bhutan, Arunachal Pradesh, Myanmar (Burma).

Originally described from plants raised from seed collected in Bhutan. A hairy species with large rounded leaves, cordate at the base and denticulate-crenulate at the margin. Scapes with 3-10 whorls of flowers. Very closely related to P. sinomollis and P. cinerascens but distinguished by its homostylous flowers and larger calyx with a broad base cut to the middle.
