Type specimen: Y. Xu 120112 resides at South China Botanical Garden, Guangdong, Guangzhou.

Epithet: Named for the city Mianyang, Sichuan.
Distribution: Sichuan.

A newly described species in 2013, growing in a very small area near Mianyang City, Sichuan. At present this species hould be considered critically endangered because only a small population has been discovered todate. It resembles P. kialensis but flowers are solitary without a scape. It is more closely related to P. socialis (considered a ssp of P. yunnanensis by J. Halda and J. Richards though distinct in the Flora of China) but a larger plant with larger flowers and long-petioled leaves. If you have an image of this species, please contact the webmaster.
