P. meishanensis is sister to P. dejuniana in a phylogenetic tree given in the original paper. It is similar morphologically to P. dejuniana but distinguished by the longer petiole of 2.5–5 cm (vs. 1–3 cm), leaf blade smooth (vs. rough), leaf apex acute (vs. apiculate), corolla pastel violet (vs. pale rose-purple), scape solitary, 7.2–11.8cm, umbel of (1) 2–3 (4) flowers (vs. the scape usually one per rosette, 8–12 (18) cm, umbel of 2–6 flowers) and earlier flowering period from December to February (vs. from early February to early March). At the time of publication it is only known from the type location in Qingshen county, Sichuan, but may exist in other locations. Grows in moist rock surfaces in moss under the forest. Compare also with P. davidii and P. epilosa.
