This species is considered a synonym of P. limbata by Halda and Richards, and a synonym of P. optata by the Flora of China. See the blog post The Truth about the Blue Nivalids (P. longipetiolata). Leaves oblanceolate to obovate with a rounded apex and most leaves having a distinct petiole, often red colored extending up the midvein, farinose underneath with a band of farina persisting along the edge. Scapes 10-15cm, 1-2 whorls of blue-purple flowers with sparce farina on the face. Calyx lanceolate with an acute apex, tube 1.5 X the calyx.
