Type specimen: A.J.Richards s.n. June 15, 2007 (Tuer Pass, Sichuan) resides at Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh (specimens E00315731, E00294093).

Epithet: Named for the flower color.
Distribution: Sichuan, China

Similar to P. bellidifolia subsp. hyacinthina, this species is easily identified by the thick, white farina under the leaves but softly hairy above. The inflorescence is capitate, with up to 50 lilac flowers pointed downwards on stems, farinose near the top, and to 30cm tall. The face of the flowers are farinose. Can sometimes be found growing with P. gracilenta, but that species has hairy, efarinose stems.
