Type specimen: E. E. Maire s.n. 1913 (plateau de Tse-chou-pa) resides at Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh (specimen E00024329).

Epithet: Named for the thin consistency of the leaves.
Distribution: NE Yunnan.

This efarinose species is distinguished by its bracts which are brown, broad ovate and ciliolate. Leaves are thin textured, oblong-ovate, rounded at the apex, cuneate at the base with a membranously winged petiole 2-5cm. The field notes for this collection indicate the species is blue flowered though the specimen was collected in fruit. See related species P. klaveriana, P. bergenioides, and P. hylobia.
