Type specimen: Farrer 1512 resides at Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh (specimens E00024668, E00024669) and KEW (specimen K000750133).

Epithet: Named for the petals which are lacerate.
Distribution: N Burma (Myanmar), Arunachal Pradesh, S Tibet (Xizang).

An efarinose species with glabrous, petiolate, orbicular leaves of a papery texture. Distinguished by the growth of leaves in the umbel. Flowers in shades of lavender-blue to pink with an orange eye and with lacerate (cut) petals . The seed capsule is of the Petiolarid type with seeds being washed from the capsule by rain. First discovered in Northern Burma, it was later found in SE Tibet. See related P. veitchiana.
