Type specimen: J.D.Hooker & Thomson 31 resides at KEW (specimens K000750426, K000750427) and British Museum (specimen BM000997019) and Harvard University (specimen 00073579) and Paris (specimens P04907179, P04907182) and Swedish Museum (specimen S09-47094) and Botanische Staatssammlung München (specimen M0173537).

Epithet: Named for Friedrich Wilhelm Klatt.
Distribution: Sikkim, Nepal,Tibet (Xizang), Bhutan.
Originally named P. uniflora by Klatt but this name is invalid as it was previously used by Gmelin in 1806. This species is unmistakable, having very large cup shaped flowers of pale blue with a red calyx over top of hairy incised leaves.
