Type specimen: B. Hajong BH062 resdies at CAL (holotype), NEIST (isotype).

Epithet: Named for the country India where the species is distributed.
Distribution: E Arunachal Pradesh, India.

A efarinose species related to Primula vilmoriniana but distinguished by distribution, larger homostylous, pale violet flowers with broadly obovate lobes, shorter scapes with fewer flowers, densely red villose along along the leaf veins underneath, outside of the calyx, pedicels and upper scape. Primula indica has leaves orbicular to ovate, apex rounded, margin crenate, base cordate or subcordate. Petioles distinct. Calyx campanulate, parted to 1/3, lobes triangular to ovate-triangular, apex acute. Scape bears a single umbel of 4-8 homostylous, scarcely annulate, pale violet flowers with a thin yellow eye.
