Type specimen: O. Schoch 78 resides at WU (holotype specimen WU 0059748) and US (specimen 00116484).

Primula forbesii subsp. hypoleuca (Hand.-Mazz.) W.W.Sm. & Forrest

Epithet: Named for the white farina under the leaves.
Distribution: Yunnan, China.

A species very similar to P. forbesii and may be only a variation of it. Distinguished by having glabrous petioles, leaves with a glabrous or subglabrous upper surface but plastered below with white farina. Found growing in reed-beds by the lake "Kun-yang-hay" at Kunming.
