Link to Flora of China description
Type specimen: Ludlow and Sherriff 2370 resides at Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh (specimens E00024681, E00024682 , E00024683 ) and British Museum (specimen BM000996785).

Primula hilaris has only been collected once at the Kashong La, on the Arunachal Pradesh - Tibet border. It looks similar to the more familiar P. strumosa (P. calderiana ssp strumosa) being yellow flowered, farinous, with a thick rootstock surrounded by basal scales. It is said to be close to P. juncunda. If you have an image of this species, please contact the webmaster.
