Type specimen: Purdom 397 resides at Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh (specimen E00024254) and Kew (specimen K000750208).

Distribution: Shaanxi, China.

P. handeliana is endemic to Taibai mountain in Shaanxi, China. It has yellow, patent corolla lobes, and petioles longer than the leaf blade. In other aspects it resembles P. szechuanica and P. aemula.
