Type specimen: Pratt 252 (part) resides at Kew (specimen K000750002).

Epithet: Named for the slender stems.
Distribution: SW Sichuan, Yunnan, China.

P. gracilenta differs from other members of the Section (except P. vialii) by having acute corolla lobes. Flower spike is short and scape is hairy and efarinous.
