Type specimen: G.P. Yang 384 resides at South China Botanical Garden, Guangzhou.

Epithet: Named for the Chinese taxonomist Prof. F. H. Chen.
Distribution: Chu Xiong Xian, Yunnan, China.

This species was discovered when naming herbarium specimens and so far is only known from the collection made at the type location. Similar to P. petelotii, it differs in its short flowering scape and long pedicels. A drawing is given in the reference. If you have an image of this species, please contact the webmaster.
