Type specimen: G.P. Yang 384 resides at South China Botanical Garden, Guangzhou.
Epithet: Named for the Chinese taxonomist Prof. F. H. Chen.
Distribution: Chu Xiong Xian, Yunnan, China.
This species was discovered when naming herbarium specimens and so far is only known from the collection made at the type location.
