Type specimen: X. Li 71088 (holotype IBSC), X. Li 71057, 71387, C.M.Hu 8853, Sichuan Biology Inst. 9470 resides at NAS (specimens NAS00072104, NAS00072105) and HX (specimens 008583, 008585).

Epithet: Named for W.P. Fang?
Distribution: Sichuan, China.

A species closely related to P. fernaldiana, but differing by having a shorter corolla tube of 8-10mm (10-13mm in P. fernaldiana), and having the style as long as the tube in pin flowers (style reaching middle in P. fernaldiana). The leaves of P. fangii are minutely brownish glandular on the upper surface. This species is found in areas near Barkam (Aba), Sichuan. Leaves are elliptic to elliptic-oblanceolate, petiole indistinct to 1/2 as long as the blade, margin entire to somewhat crenulate, apex rounded and white farinose below. Umbels of 5-25 rose-purple flowers, bracts lanceolate, calyx campanulate, parted 1/3 to 1/2 into ovate to triangular lobes with acute apex.
