Type specimen: Ward 5839, 6238 resides at E (specimen E00024614) and K (specimen K000750267).

P. falcifolia var. farinifera: C.M.Hu, Type specimen: Xizang Nature Resource Exped. 76-409 resides at PE. A variant with yellow farina.

Epithet: Named for the sickle shaped leaves.
Distribution: Tibet (Xizang).

A yellow flowered species originally found on the Doshong La, Tibet. It is distinguished by the open faced flower, and the efarinose, linear-lanceolate leaves. Capsule almost globose, disintegrating at maturity. The variant P. falcifolia var. farinifera has yellow farina and is found at Bomi Xian. As this species grows in very wet conditions, it would be interesting to survey the type population for evidence of farina. See related: P. agleniana, P. elizabethae, P. obliqua.
