Type specimen: Forrest 15772 resides at E (specimen E00024289) and US (specimen US00116473) and K (specimen K000750155 ) and P (specimen P04571927).

Distribution: W Yunnan, N Burma.

Considered distinct in the Flora of China and Primula in India book, but included under P. moupinensis by Richards. This species requires more study and collections to determine its status. It is distributed along the northern Burma / Yunnan border region. This species is efarinose, without basal scales at flowering. Leaves elliptic to ovate, rounded at the apex, with a short or obsolete petiole at flowering, later with a distinct petiole equalling the blade. Scape 1-8cm, elongating in fruit, with 2-10 flowers. Bracts linear-lanceolate puberulous, pedicels glandular-puberulous. Calyx campanulate, puberulous, cut to the middle into ovate to oblong-ovate lobes with an acute apex.
