Type specimen: Ludlow & Sherriff 1886, 2667 resides at British Museum (specimen BM000996948) and Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh (specimens E00024612, E00024613).

Epithet: Named for Frank Ludlow's Mother, Elizabeth.
Distribution: Arunachal Pradesh,Xizang (Tibet).

Although it appears that the name should be corrected from P. elizabethae to P. elizabethiae according to the IAPT code 60C.2, the name "Elizabetha" previously existed in Latin form, so no correction is required. Similar to P. falcifolia, but differing in the leaves which are ovate to ovate-lanceolate and with a long distinct petiole, 2-3X the length of the blade.
