Epithet: Named for Val di Daone, Italy.
Distribution: Italy, Austria, Switzerland.

A species similar to P. hirsuta but distinguished by the large red orbicular glands on the leaves, and a capsule equal or exceeding the calyx. The flowering stem is short but above the leaves and the flowers are rose-purple, usually with a distinct white eye. Grows in a small area in the vicinity of the frontiers of Switzerland, Austria and Italy, on acidic rocks/stoney soils.
