Initially compared to a reduced state of Primula farinosa, this species forms cushion like masses with scapes up to only 1 cm high. The annulate flowers vary in color from dark pink to pale pink/lilac to white, with a yellow eye, 1-6 flowers per scape. Leaves are oblanceolate to spathulate with an indistinct petiole, yellow farinose below and sometimes sparcely farinose above. Margin is entire or obscurely crenulate. Calyx campanulate, farinose cut to middle into lanceolate lobes, apex acute to obtuse. Capsule shortly oblong, equalling the calyx and parting by 5 valves. Can be confused with P. walshi which is distinguished by being efarinose and having short hairs on the leaves and calyx.
