Type specimen: Rohmoo 317 resides at Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh (specimen E00024716, E00024717 ) and US National Herbarium (specimen US00116460 ) and Rohmoo 407 resides at Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh (specimen E00024715).

Primula chumbiensis is endemic to the Chumbi Valley and W. Bhutan. Closely related to P. sikkimensis and P. reticulata but differing from both by leaf shape and texture.
