Type specimen: Rock 17702 resides at Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh (specimen E00024218) and US National Herbarium (specimen US00116457) and Paris (specimen P00649641) and Harvard (specimen 00073530).

Epithet: Named for the yellow flowers.
Distribution: Sichuan, China

This species has only been found on the Djsei La in Sichuan, just SW of Kanding. As this pass is not now on a highway, it remains a relatively unknown species. It is distinguished by being small (to 10cm), leaves with a broad petiole, spathulate apex and serrate margins. Flowers yellow, 2-6, with orbicular lobes, usually entire. Said to be efarinose, but may be slightly farinose. Rock collected the much larger yellow species, P. orbicularis, at the same location.
