This species was first collected in Central Guizhou, "south of Tin-fan, grande grotto of Lin-tchouan". A collection of Cavalerie specimens collected from 1900-1920 and purchased by Kew and Edinburgh were all marked as collected in Yunnan, but this is obviously an error. The Flora of China lists the location for this species as both C Guizhou and SE Yunnan but I have no information of this species ocurring in Yunnan. An efarinose species, leaves suborbicular, more of less pilose with a distinct pilose petiole, cordate base, margin obscurely crenate-lobulate, minutely denticulate. Scapes to 22cm with 1-4 umbels of pink exannulate flowers, calyx campanulate cut to middle. Capsule globose. Compare with related P. lithophila and P. scopulicola. Grows in grottos.
