Type specimen: Y. Y. Geng 94003 resides at IBSC (specimen IBSC0087474).

Epithet: Leaves that look like a Bergenia.
Distribution: Emei Shan, Sichuan.

Primula bergenioides is distinguished from related species by its glabrous leaves and scapes. See related species P. klaveriana, P. leptophylla, and P. hylobia. This efarinose species has brown basal bud scales, oblong-elliptic leaves with a very short winged petiole, covered in minute hairs when just unfolding otherwise glabrous.
