Type specimen: Ludlow & Sherriff 2350 resides at Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh (specimens E00024534, E00024535) and British Museum (specimen BM000996898).

Epithet: Named for the hairs in the throat of the flower.
Distribution: Arunachal Pradesh - Tibet Border

Collected on the Kashong La, Chubumba La and Tum La on the Arunachal Pradesh - Tibet border. Closely related to P. bella, this efarinose, small species (1.5 cm) has purple flowers with a darker eye and a pompom of hairs in the throat. It spreads by stolons and the leaves are spathulate with a broad base and the upper blade incised with narrowly triangular teeth.
